Q: How much will it cost to move?

A: Box Pack ‘n Move provides a detailed in-home estimate and moving plan based specifically on your needs so that it is as accurate and efficient as possible.

The costs can include:

  • An hourly rate times the number of movers needed
  • An equipment fee – moving truck, moving equipment such as dollies, moving pads, etc. These fees might be hourly or a flat rate based on what is needed for the move
  • Cost of supplies to protect floors, corners, furniture
  • Accessibility in the home or business – stairs, hallways, parking, distance from the truck to the front door
  • The size of the home and the amount/weight of boxes or items to be moved
  • Extra time needed to box, pack or move fragile, heavy or specialty items
  • Time and labor for disassembling and reassembling furniture or items
  • Extra items and supplies that are added to the work order
  • Time and labor required to correct packing done or not completed by the customer
  • New pickups or drop offs are ordered

Q: How long does it take to do the move?

A: Of course, the length of time needed depends on the scope of the move. By carefully evaluating all of the factors needed to complete the move, we maximize our labor and resources to make it as cost-effective as possible for customers

Q: Do you come to my house for the estimate?

A: We prefer to do an in-house estimate so we can most accurately assess the needs of our clients and truly see the scope of the project. We will do a phone estimate and request that the customer texts or emails photos and/or videos of the things to be moved and the house or business location.

Q: When is payment due? Do you require a deposit?

A: Full payment is due at the time of the move with a credit card, debit card, or cash (no checks). We require a deposit of 10% and charge to secure the move date and $250 to change the date.

Q: Do you do state to state moves (interstate) or just in-state (intrastate)?

A: Primarily, we do intrastate moves. We would consider an interstate move case by case.

Q: In addition to the estimate can you help me prepare for the move?

A: Absolutely! We are happy to help you get ready with a TO DO checklist, including the Do’s and Don’ts to make the move go as smoothly as possible. Great organization keeps the move as efficient and cost-effective as possible for you!

Q: What can I do on my end to make the move efficient?

A:  Here are some tips to make the move fast and efficient:

  • Be organized
  • Donate and remove junk (Ask us for our preferred industry partner for this task.)
  • Use the appropriate sized boxes for the items you pack (small and medium are preferred – stay within the weight restrictions too, please). Heavy boxes take longer to move and tend to not protect the items as well.
  • Pack fragile items with special packing to protect them – or leave the fragile items to us for boxing and packing. Glasses need a dish pack, etc.
  • Label boxes well to indicate where they need to go. It saves all of us time in the process.
  • Please pack your money, jewelry, medicine and important documents yourself and keep them somewhere separate so they do not get accidentally moved by our crew.


Q: What kind of boxes do I need to get?

A: We can help protect the environment by first finding LIGHTLY used boxes through social media, NextDoor or friends who moved – if not, please use small and medium sized boxes if possible. Extra-large wardrobe boxes and mini dish packs also come in handy for clothes and dishes. If you are moving interstate or storing items for a long time, we recommend new boxes.

Q: What do I need to consider about insurance?

A: Our insurance policy covers your items that may get damaged or lost during the move. You are responsible of course for your items once they arrive at their next destination. Please consult your insurance agent to make sure you have the appropriate policy.

Q: What should I think about if I need to move my items to a storage unit?

A: We recommend that you consider a secure controlled climate for your possessions if they are going to be there for any longer period of time. Furniture often does not do well in non-controlled climates. We also encourage you to use commercial grade boxes for extended storage or moves.


Choosing the right box can save you money and time!

  • We recommend using small and medium sized boxes, and fill them up as much as possible, staying within the recommended weight limits per box. Boxes that are too big for your items are too heavy to lift end up costing you more because of the additional labor needed to move them, damaged items that weren’t packed properly and potentially the need to repack these items into the appropriate box. Of course, for certain clothes and kitchen items large wardrobe boxes are useful and mini dish packs for dishes.

Where can I get boxes?

  • To be environmentally conscious and to save money, it is always great to use LIGHTLY used boxes when possible. They can be found online on sites like FB Marketplace, Free Cycle, NextDoor or from friends who moved. However, if you are putting items in storage for an extended period of time or doing an interstate move, we suggest using new boxes in order to provide the best protection for your possessions.

What exactly is considered a small box and what should I pack in them?

  • Small boxes are very useful for packing books, tools, small appliances and other small items
  • They are 1.5 Cubic Foot, 16x12x12h and can carry up to 40 lbs in weight
