Richard Ortiz

Founder & CEO

Richard Ortiz founded Box Pack N Move LLC in 2019 and still runs the company today. Customers who call about a move will often speak with him directly. He handles crew schedules and truck routes, alongside the paperwork that comes with owning a business.

Much of Richard’s work involves talking through the details of a move. A customer may have a question about packing or a piece of furniture that could be difficult to get upstairs. He helps work through those concerns so the crew knows what to expect before arriving.

Before opening Box Pack N Move, Richard spent five years at USAA, first as a Service Specialist and a New Member Solutions Specialist in sales. He helped military members, veterans and their families get started with USAA and understand the products available to them. His work involved talking through their financial needs and recommending suitable banking and insurance options. He also supported employee training and mentoring, and held a Colorado Property and Casualty insurance license during that time.

Richard worked at Convergys between 2009 and 2013. He started as a Problem Resolution Specialist II before taking on a Team Lead and Sales Operations role. Alongside coaching employees, he stepped in when customer concerns needed further attention. His sales performance regularly exceeded the department’s targets by 40%.

Earlier roles included working as a teller at UMB Bank and helping customers resolve service contract issues at Aon Innovative Solutions. He also worked with students through the Save Our Youth Student Academic Recovery Program as a teacher and mentor.

Richard holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Colorado Christian University. His studies gave him a grounding in business management. His customer-facing roles gave him plenty of practice explaining complicated information and working through problems with people.

He has also pursued an interest in technology. In 2003, he earned a certificate in Office Applications from the Community College of Denver. He later studied cybersecurity at Colorado Technical University, concentrating on Computer Systems Security. He passed the CompTIA Security+ certification exam in April 2019 and has been affiliated with the Colorado Springs chapter of the Information Systems Security Association.

Today, Richard puts that experience to work at Box Pack N Move. He stays involved with customers and supports the crews carrying out their moves. When plans change, he helps sort out the details and keeps the job moving.
